From a used-book platform to a campus resource-sharing network — a Stanford offer built on the circular economy.
Student Background
A US high-school student with a 3.95 GPA and a 1530 SAT, with startup-competition experience (a campus used-book platform) — but the project stayed a “small business” without depth.
The Challenge
Stanford admires ambitions that change the world. How could a campus side-hustle grow into a sustainability practice?
Mentor Strategy
Iterating the model
we had him research the circular economy and expand the book platform into a campus sharing network (stationery, electronics), with a points system rewarding green behavior and a local NGO partnership. Data — carbon saved, money returned to students — proved the social value.
Essays and brand
his essays traced the shift “from saving money to changing habits,” pairing entrepreneurial thinking with social care. We used Stanford’s design-thinking culture: an entrepreneurship camp and conversations with alumni. He was admitted RD to Stanford’s Management Science & Engineering program.
The Result
Admitted (RD) to Stanford University (Management Science & Engineering)
